CRISPR--Cris Parr has characters that are rock-solid and finely drawn. Nya Bennison first appears as a young protagonist with an acute curiosity, and as the narrative develops, she becomes determined to do something right. Her struggle to free Cris infuses the narrative with humanity. Her relationship with Gabriel is expertly written, and readers will enjoy the moments of tension and shared resolve to expose a powerful organization. I was invested in this story right through to see what happened at the end.
