Hi there!
My name is Micky O'Brady, nice to meet you all! I started out as an avid reader, like many of you, until I decided to take my passion for writing and, well, actually start writing. Over the years that passion has turned me into an award-winning author of YA-books in different genres, from contemporary (Playing with #Fire) over paranormal (33 Degrees, Angel Down), to sci-fi (Between Worlds, Time Warped-series) and others I haven't squeezed into this intro.
I got lucky and had my first manuscript I wrote, The President's Daughter, published by Curiosity Quills. The sequel, Trial by Ice, followed a year or so later--and then CQ ceased to do business. Ouch. After that initial shock and panic (OMG, what am I gonna do NOW?!?) I found a new home for my stories at Snowy Wings Publishing, and I've been with them ever since.
So, no matter when you read this, I'm working on something new, although I can't say in which direction it'll go: that would depend on what topic tickles my fancy at that very moment. I can promise you though there will be a kick-butt heroine, no matter what. I'm a big fan of writing strong female characters, because strong girls and women are *real life*. Duh. And even if we're not quite at super-hero-main-character-level, we totally could be when/if the situation required it. Yup. I know it and I believe in you.
Just to give myself some street cred when it comes to the buttkicking-part, I'm a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga and a second-degree black belt in Judo. Okay, okay, I might be biased, but I highly recommend checking out your nearest Krav Maga Worldwide gym. Knowing how to defend yourself and your loved ones is a great skill to have.
Other than that (you know, the whole writing- or doing Krav Maga-thing) I'm a Pediatrician. I consider myself lucky to have two jobs I love with all my heart. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go back into medicine, and always, always, always into Pediatrics. We got stickers!
